- Best for
- Small closets
- Approach
- Simple clothing zones
- Start here
- Sort one section
1. Start with one section
Choose a rail, shelf or drawer rather than emptying the whole closet at once. Separate the clothes you use regularly from pieces that need repair, seasonal storage or a decision. Finish this small section before moving on.
2. Group by your routine
Put the clothes you wear together in locations that make sense for getting dressed. Give everyday clothing the easiest access. Fold items that stretch on hangers and leave enough space on the rail to see what you own.

3. Measure the storage you need
Measure the shelf opening and the usable depth before choosing a basket. Check that it can slide out without catching on a hinge or frame. Use containers for a defined group of belongings rather than for miscellaneous overflow.
4. Give yourself room to put things away
- Avoid packing shelves so tightly that removing one item disturbs everything.
- Keep a separate place for items waiting to be repaired.
- Review your system when the season or your daily routine changes.
Your closet does not need identical hangers or a colour-coded rail to work well. It needs enough visibility and access for the clothes you actually use.
