Sort your essentials

1. Separate daily and occasional items

Keep only the products you use frequently near the sink or shower. Review old supplies and follow the product label for storage and disposal. Move items that do not need to live in the bathroom to an appropriate location elsewhere.

2. Measure around the plumbing

Under-sink pipes and door hinges can reduce usable space. Measure the height, depth and width at the narrowest points. Check that a container can be removed without catching on pipes.

3. Choose easy-to-clean storage

Look for materials appropriate to the room’s moisture levels. Leave room for ventilation and cleaning. Avoid placing electrical items close to water and follow their manufacturer’s instructions.

4. Leave the counter easy to reset

  • Group a few daily essentials on a washable tray.
  • Store backup products together so they are easy to check.
  • Keep the floor and door swing clear.

Use the layout for a few days before adding more storage. If putting items away feels difficult, simplify the arrangement rather than adding another organizer.
